Main Street
...it's official!
Sixteen volunteers with the Heart of Headland met with Mary Helmer and Trisha Black of Main Street Alabama to establish the organizational structure for Headland Main Street.

The meeting was followed by a press conference and reception. Mayor Ray Marlor welcomed our Main Street partnership. Adrienne Wilkins thanked all of the volunteers who have been working diligently to make Headland an even better place to live and work. Mary Helmer explained that Main Street Alabama's approach inspires people young and old not only to give back to their community but also to come back to their hometowns: to live, to become entrepreneurs, to breathe new life into our downtown, neighborhood commercial districts, and most importantly to remember what is old can be new and thriving again. Main Street Alabama isn't just about building a better Downtown - it is about making your hometown the best it can be. We invite you to be a part of this movement, we encourage you to celebrate the successes in Headland,
Sundown Cinema draws a crowd at the square
A cool light breeze blew as many gathered to watch A Dog's Way Home. Corn Dodgers made delicious walking tacos, hot dogs, popcorn, kettle corn and lemonade. A fun time was had by all!
The HEART of Headland downtown revitalization group hosted another "Under The Oaks" with a patriotic concert on Friday, June 28th performed by the Tri-State Community Orchestra and saxophonist Kendall Ali. People dined at local restaurants, visited food trucks and shopped the square while listening to awesome live music.

Under the Oaks is a free live music series in the downtown square every fourth Friday through September 2019. The next event is Friday, July 26 where the 225 Uptown Band will play R&B and Motown.

These events are sponsored by: Heart of Headland, HNB First Bank, A&D Automotive Group (Dothan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, Enterprise Chevrolet, Dothan Kia, Dothan Volkswagon, Enterprise Kia) and Music Man Productions

Under the Oaks is hosted by the Heart of Headland volunteer group which is working with our Main Street initiative. If you love Headland and want to help our community please plan to attend the meetings on every first Monday each month, at 6 pm at You Never Know's Party Place next to Misty's Salon on the square . Please come if you can and invite others who may be interested in getting involved!
Headland Honors
The City of Headland honored Coach Howard Holland, Sherrill Singleton and former Mayor Donald Smith at a sign dedication held on the square in downtown Headland on Monday June 24. These gentlemen played a large part in establishing the City of Headland's municipal ball fields and programs. Their love of Headland and vision for our future encourages us all to continue to plan and work hard for Headland's future generations. The Howard Holland Complex and the Smith-Singleton Complex signs will be installed this week at the Municipal ballpark.
Headland Farmers Market
The Headland Farmers Market is open every Friday between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 on the square in Headland. The hours will be extended during the Under the Oaks events. Stop by and pick up some local produce.
