Saturday, December 17 | 10 - 11:30 AM
Women's Gathering
Via Zoom

During this season of Advent, we continue our examination of faith and action through the working of the Holy Spirit.

Our December discussion will be a reflection of Anglican mystic Evelyn Underhill's definition of mysticism as "the art of union with reality." Father Rohr describes the Holy Spirit as "the artist painting this union through us!" What is Richard Rohr's vision of the Trinity all about? Click here to email Lorraine Rollo for the link.
Sunday, December 18
Sunday Morning Forum Hour
With Prof. Randall Zachman
Available in person and via Zoom

Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-1988) is one of the leading Roman Catholic theologians of our day. As a Jesuit, von Balthasar was the spiritual director of Adrienne von Speyer, a physician in Basel. While under his direction, she had a series of visions of the abandonment of Christ to death and hell on Holy Saturday. Von Balthasar became convinced that the abandonment of the Son of God to death and hell is the central event in the revelation of the self-abandoning love of God. Join us this Sunday as we explore von Balthasar's theological examination of Adrienne von Speyer's provocative visions. Click here to join via Zoom.

Reminder: There will be no Sunday morning forum on December 25th and January 1st. Forum will resume on January 8, 2023 at 9:30.
Sunday December 18 | 5 PM
Festival of Lessons and Carols
With the combined Saint James and Compline Choirs

Join us this Sunday at 5 PM for Festival of Lessons and Carols—a service of Scripture and song that dates back to the late 19th century.

The combined Saint James and Compline choirs will sing a variety of repertoire including "But Who May Abide" from Handel’s Messiah with Seth Antes, soloist. Traditional Christmas hymns will be sung by all.

Available in person and streamed. Click here to view live.

Please Help us Complete
our Campaign

As we near the end of 2022, if you have not already done so, PLEASE help us successfully complete the 2023 annual fund campaign. We have been seeing wonderful responses to our appeal this year, but we are still awaiting completed commitments from a number of faithful members and friends. Our ministry for 2023 is dependent on knowing what resources we will have to carry out that ministry.

You can make your commitment on line in Realm (click here), by submitting the card that was mailed to you, by emailing your intention to Nicolette, or by calling the parish office with the information. THANK YOU!

End of Year Giving 2022

Thank you to all who have been able to give so faithfully this year! We are now 89% of the way to fulfillment of pledges for the current year! If you are able to complete your pledge this year, we hope you will do so in these final weeks and help us finish this year on a strong financial footing. Your giving or even an extra Christmas gift helps to balance out some of our households who fell on more difficult times and were not able to give at their normal levels.

Not sure where you are with your annual giving to date? Log in to your Realm account to review all your gifts or to make a gift. Or make a gift as a guest which will still be credited to your giving account.

If you would like an activated Realm account to make giving even simpler, click here to get started. If you have questions about your giving, email Nicolette Norris or phone her at 717-397-4858 X112. Thank you!
Christmas Offering

If you have satisfied your 2022 giving commitment and wish to make an additional end-of-year gratitude gift, you might consider the traditional Christmas offering.

Your gift can even be made in memory or thanksgiving for someone special in your life. Simply write ‘Christmas offering’ in the memo line of a check or click here to give online by selecting Christmas Offering from the dropdown list of funds.

Please note that we have discontinued the numbered envelope system to identify each household; instead, our Realm software scans checks to identify the giver.

Those who give with cash will simply need to add their name to their envelopes. Any envelope can be used; a quantity of these giving envelope books will be available soon for pickup.

If you have questions about giving envelopes, contact the office at 717-397-4858 X112.
Addiction & Recovery Ministry
Help is needed
You are welcome to participate in the 11th Step Ministry Team at Saint James by signing up to be a regular or one-time host at community Narcotics Anonymous meetings held in the parish house forum room.

Meetings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:45 - 8:15 PM. All that is needed is a welcoming smile and ability to answer simple questions (bathroom location, etc.). No set-up or clean up is required as the group is fully self-sufficient.  For more info, click here to email Debbi Miller. Click here to register to host.

Returning in 2023!
Faith, Food and Fellowship
Registration has begun!

We are excited to announce the re-launch of Faith, Food and Fellowship. What better way to get to know new members and fellow parishioners than by sharing a meal with them! Below are three popular options to fit varied lifestyles and schedules.

Just Lunch
An opportunity for those who prefer a social gathering at midday, in a member's home or at a restaurant.

Table for Six
This is an opportunity to dine out with fellow parishioners. Groups decide which restaurants they enjoy, take turns making the reservation and ask for separate checks.

Dinner for Eight
Groups of 8-10 gather in each other's homes. Households rotate hosting and providing the main course. The host also plans what others should bring to round out the meal. This is also a great option for families with children!

Groups will begin meeting the end of this January and continue through June. Click here to register.
