The Small Business Entrepreneurship Support (SBES) Program's application period is now open.  The Tobacco Commission, in partnership with GENEDGE and the Commission's Business Support Committee created the SBES Program in June 2019.   The Tobacco Commission has, for several years, provided the opportunity for small businesses to work with the business consultants at the GENEDGE Alliance (aka A.l. Philpott Manufacturing Extension Partnership). The Commission now wants to expand that opportunity to
small businesses within our footprint that are past the startup stage but have not yet fully commercialized. If selected, the small business would not get direct grant funding, but we would basically pay for the cost for them to work with GENEDGE.   2019 is a pilot year of the SBES program and has two application rounds, one that is open through Labor Day and one that will open this fall.  There is no cost to submit an application and it can be completed online. At the close of an application round, 10 semi-finalists will have the opportunity to present to the Business Support Committee, resulting in five small businesses in the program.  The selected five small businesses will receive business consulting services of GENEDGE, a mentor from the Commission's Business Support Committee and media attention at the conclusion of the program.   If your Chamber is located in the Commission's footprint, please share this information in your communities. Alexis Ehrhardt is a member of the Commission and the Business Support Committee, so please feel free to reach out with any questions.
