Happy New Year! We hope that you have enjoyed recreation and true leisure time together since May. We are excited to see our returning students Tomorrow at Textbook Pickup and our brand-new students Saturday at New Student Orientation! Please scroll down for more information on these events.
As we prepare for a new year at Northern Oaks, we are very thankful for all the preparatory work YOU do in these final days of summer vacation. From purchasing Classics to Keep and consumable book sets to coordinating carpools, from refreshing the uniform supply to registering for athletics, from looking for last year's lunch bags to discussing goals for the year with your students, you are busy these weeks! Thank you for preparing your students well to engage their diligence and curiosity this year!
A few notes on back-to-school matters:
GHNO Community Investment – Thank you! Thank you! What a success! Yet again, Griffin family support of Community Investment continues to grow. This support is simply and literally essential for our continued growth and vibrant academy life. If you are not currently giving to our 2026-2027 GHNO Community Investment campaign, I urge you to consider starting a monthly donation of $125 today. Contact DeAnna Macias for details.
College Credit & Dual Enrollment – A full slate of dual enrollment courses is offered this year throughout 9th-12th grade. See our college counselors at GHNO for more information about which courses might be best for your student's future plans.
Uniforms – Please purchase items your child can grow into. From 7th - 9th grade, children grow VERY fast, and skirts/shorts and polos can become much too short very quickly. Both skirts and shorts have length requirements, and uniform tops must be long enough to tuck in. Students need to be able to move around comfortably without being concerned about too-short attire. Purchase a little on the long side and save some money. Neatness counts: Uniform items must be properly fitting, neat in appearance, and free of stains, tears, or excessive wear. Shirts must be properly tucked in; for shorts, this includes a belt that is visible.
Family Handbook – Young people are more comfortable when they know what is expected of them. You can help by discussing portions of the family handbook in an age-appropriate way with your student. Teachers will also teach, coach, and reaffirm expectations many times in the early days of the school year. We are all happy to answer questions or discuss the rationale for any aspect of our school culture.
GHNO has provided a haven for students and teachers who want to pursue the true, good, and beautiful together every day. Even so, we want to continue to win the hearts of our families. We want to help ensure each student who joins us experiences the joys and rewards of such a well-rounded education. We know that Griffin seniors express gratitude for the culture they experience at GHNO. We know that the challenge of this school is deeply worthwhile for students and families. Looking ahead to the year, we aim to continue honoring your family’s commitment to Northern Oaks.
