Headmaster Update
John Thornburg
Dear Families,
I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing April break!

This an exciting week for the Malden Catholic community! Our Return to School In-Person Learning Plan will be launched as we welcome all of our students back into the building. We spent time over the break to ensure the building meets all safety protocols and provides a safe environment for our students and staff. We are thankful for your support in this endeavor.

Please make sure to attend our Return to School Webinar this Monday, April 26, at 6:30 PM. We will hear from Dr. David King, a medical expert who is tremendously experienced in the area of COVID-19, and someone who has assisted MC throughout the year to create our Culture of Health and Safety.
We will be sending out an automated phone call and an email this evening (Sunday, April 25), reminding our families of the mandatory COVID-19 testing for all MC students. This mandatory testing will be held tomorrow on Monday, April 26.
Another important event this week is our 15th Annual Gala. I encourage all of our parents to sign up and be a part of this exciting event on Thursday, April 29. The virtual Gala provides us the opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate. We will honor a very important group this year - our faculty and staff. They have done an amazing job, and we will take the time to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments.
This week begins the final push towards the end of the year. The fourth academic quarter gets underway, spring sports begin and our Seniors will graduate in a few short weeks. Time will pass quickly, so I encourage you to remain focused and make sure we finish the year strong. To be successful, we must all be dedicated to academics, give our best effort in all we do and make sure we follow proper safety protocols to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Thank you for all your support,
John K. Thornburg

Schoolwide Saliva COVID-19 Testing and Return to School for In-person Learning Webinar - Monday, April 26
In preparation for returning to school, Malden Catholic will administer COVID-19 Pool Testing. On Monday, April 26, MC will require all students who plan on being in the GREEN PHASE to participate in a schoolwide COVID-19 testing initiative. We are also requiring all faculty and staff to participate in the testing. As part of our commitment to a Culture of Health and Safety, we require the testing of everyone who will be in the building next week when we begin our in-person learning model (GREEN PHASE). This will allow us to establish a baseline for the health of the current school community and return to the building in the safest possible manner. Any member of our school community who cannot make this mandatory event should contact either Nurse Paquette, Nurse Olive or Mrs. Redman.
Testing schedule and procedures:
All testing will be conducted outside under the tent outside the gymnasium. Students will be separated by divisions and also by homerooms. Boys Division will utilize the back parking lot by door #11 and then walk to the tent. Girls Division will enter the tent from the front of the building on Crystal Street.
8:30 - 9:30 AM - All Grade 9 Students
10:00 - 11:00 AM - All Grade 10 Students
1:30 - 2:30 PM - All Grade 11 Students

MC will also be hosting a Return to School in In-Person Learning Webinar on April 26, 2021 at 6:30 PM. This event will feature the following guests: Dr. David King, Nurse Elizabeth Paquette, Mr. Jeff Smith and Mr. James Grocki. Our speakers will discuss the Return to School Plan and answer any questions parents and students may have regarding the school's transition to in-person learning. link: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7732036660587688975
