Dear Families,
Today is a very special Monday. We welcomed students into the building for the first day of school since the start of the pandemic! Navigating this was no small feat with the challenges provided by COVID-19. I walked the halls before school this morning and was immediately impressed by the dedication of our faculty and staff. Our building was prepped and ready to go. Our faculty and staff have worked overtime to make sure we established the safest possible environment for our students. Their commitment to our mission and to the young men and women who walk the halls of MC is truly extraordinary.
This morning, the enthusiasm and positive energy could be felt by everyone. One faculty member said they woke up well before the alarm went off due to the excitement of the first day of school. I did the same. Freshly sanitized and cleaned classrooms with socially distanced desks waited for the new year to begin. The teachers were trained and have adapted to the new technology outfitted in each classroom. The students began to arrive, passing through the thermal cameras and walked on their way to the first period class. Soon, the bell rang and Principal Redman welcomed everyone to the new year. She led us in prayer and the fall semester was underway.
I want to thank our families for their commitment to our school. I know the summer has been challenging and each family has gone above and beyond to partner with us. We are thrilled to be able to join together this week as a school community and to continue on our path of success as we move into the fall.
Thank you for your support,
John K. Thornburg
