Headmaster Update
John Thornburg
Headmaster
Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying the last week of summer. Our campus has been very busy with orientations for our faculty, staff and new teachers. It has been wonderful to be able gather together again at Malden Catholic in a socially distanced format. We shared the Re-entry Booklet with our families last week and I strongly encourage everyone to read the content carefully. As we reopen for classes we will strictly adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Booklet to make sure our school and our community remain safe and well.

On an very exciting note, we have had a very strong uptake in admissions at Malden Catholic and we could not be more thrilled! This is due to the hard work of our faculty and staff and the support provided by our families who have made MC such a special place!

My Reflection this week focuses on practicing our faith by celebrating the little things in life. It is important to appreciate and even relish the small tasks, because they serve to prepare us for the larger tasks ahead. I hope you enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Thank you for your support,

John K. Thornburg
Headmaster

MC's Exceptional Distance Learning Creates Demand for Fall Admissions
Malden Catholic provided interactive, academically challenging classes taught by veteran teachers on a secured Zoom platform after the onset of COVID-19, closing for only a single transition day on March 13. As a result, the school has seen a tripling of the normal transfer demand since June, with a record-high number of applications and growing waitlist. Currently, Malden Catholic expects to open the school year with nearly 655 students across four classes of boys and three classes of girls. Only a few seats remain available for transfer students in specific classes.

Faculty and Staff Orientation
This week, Malden Catholic officially began the 2020-2021 school year by holding orientation for new teachers, faculty and staff members. Led by Headmaster Thornburg and Principal Redman, the in-service events focused on health and safety protocols, the Hybrid Model educational system and training on the modern technology system.

The entire faculty is very excited about having the student cohorts back in the building on September 14!
