This evening of networking and celebration will include the presentation of 10 awards recognizing those businesses or individuals that help showcase Headwaters as Ontario's premier rural tourism destination.

Plan to join us on this magical evening that will include culinary creations from Adamo Estate Winery's Executive Chef Roberto Fracchione, a winery tour, networking and of course, award presentations.

Nominations are open until November 14th for the 2016 Headwaters Tourism Awards. Every year Headwaters
Tourism celebrates excellence in the tourism and hospitality industry during our regional Headwaters Tourism Awards ceremony.

Headwaters Tourism is currently seeking nominations for our 2016 Headwaters Tourism Awards.
Please consider submitting nominations in any (or all) of the award categories, and help us recognize those businesses or individuals who help showcase the best of Headwaters: Where Ontario Gets Real.

All nominations must be for businesses or individuals from the Headwaters region and for work taking place between October 1st, 2015 through to September 30th, 2016.

Friends of the Greenbelt photo contest    
The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) have teamed up again to launch a photo contest celebrating the proposed addition of 21 urban river valleys and 7 coastal wetlands to Ontario's permanently protected Greenbelt. The contest is soliciting images of water in all forms and seasons.

Submissions opened on October 3, 2016 and close on January 10, 2017.

2017 Headwaters regional road map 

Headwaters Tourism is exploring the possibility of producing 20,000 copies of a road map that would be distributed at major tourism locations throughout  the area. Sponsorship of the 2017 regional Headwaters map would provide co-branding opportunities for the map sponsor. The final approved sponsor would be exclusively represented on the 20,000 copies of the 2017 map that would be available for distribution through tourism channels.

New owners for the Globe Restaurant in Rosemont

The Globe Restaurant, in the historic hamlet of Rosemont, is now owned by Mono residents, Janice and Earl O'Borne. Long-time owners Beth Hunt and David McCracken, who have been the guiding force behind the restaurant's success over the past three decades, call the transfer of ownership a "new opportunity for the Globe Restaurant and the community to retain its prominent position among the best Country Restaurants in Ontario." 

Janice O'Born, who has turned the Rosemont General Store into a popular meeting place for local residents, sees her responsibility "as one of protecting an important piece of local history through careful and sensitive investment that will build on Beth and David's vision".

Historic Cataract Inn reopens as the Forks of the Credit Inn

On October 20th, 2016, Bart Murphy and Karey Emmett opened the doors to the Forks of the Credit Inn, a new wellness and yoga retreat centre and four-bedroom boutique bed & breakfast property in the hamlet of Cataract.

An update on Caledon's tourism partnership with the Hills of Headwaters tourism organization came to a recent council meeting,  and according to the math and a growing trophy case, it's a solid investment so far.
Caledon partners with the Hills of Headwaters tourism association for the promotion and marketing of all it has to offer north of Mayfield.
Headwaters Executive Director Michele Harris presented to the council and showed a vision for her organization that remains positioning Headwaters as Ontario's premier rural tourism destination.
And the mission, she said, is integrating "tourism into the regional economic development strategies of our partner municipalities."

Touchwood Design recognized at Canadian Regional Design Awards

Congratulations to Headwaters Tourism's creative partner, Touchwood Design Inc., on being recognized as a finalist in five categories for the 2016 Canadian Regional Design Awards (The Redgees).  

Of particular note is their recognition with an Honourable Mention in the editorial category for the Headwaters: Where Ontario Gets Real campaign and as a finalist for the Headwaters Tourism logo design.
