Wolf Rock
As a young person growing up here, I often heard about "Wolf Rock". It was described as "a place in the woods, off the main roadway, where a family once had to escape to from a pack of wolves." The story goes like this:
In the mid-1600's, the John Tomson family lived in a log cabin located on Thompson Street. On a beautiful Sunday morning in June, Mr. and Mrs. Tomson, their two sons and six-month old daughter (in a carrier), were walking to Plymouth to attend Church services.
The walk was long, but it was a pleasant day. They saw rabbits, deer and other wildlife on their way. There was water to drink in the brooks they passed. No one was thinking of any danger that might be in their path. They had not been to Plymouth as a family in some time and were excited about seeing friends and family.
Suddenly, off in the distance, the loud howling of a wolf pack could be heard. Walking faster, Mr. Tomson looked around for some safe place to hold up when he remembered a great rock up ahead. It is said it was eight feet high with three smooth sides reaching straight up and a small narrow ridge where one could climb to the top.
The family arrived safely in Plymouth. After waiting out the wolf pack, they climbed down to continue their trek once it was deemed safe to do so. Mr. Tomson had his gun with him but never had to shoot any wolves that day.
I never got to walk in the woods with any of my dear family who knew the way; they passed before I had a chance. I would love to hear if any of my neighbors out there knows where it is.

Silver Lake Regional School District Survey - Planning for Our Future
From: Jill Proulx, Superintendent, Silver Lake Regional School District
Dear Community Members, Parents, and Staff:
The Silver Lake Regional School District is engaging in a community conversation to define what success may look like for our students and our schools over the next three to five years. Since starting as superintendent in February, much of our work has focused on navigating the pandemic and trying to keep students, staff, and our community safe. To help in assessing our strengths and areas for growth, we have designed the survey below.
As you respond to each item, focus on your own personal experiences and perceptions about the school(s). The data collected from this survey, alongside other sources of information (including a student survey), will be used to inform upcoming strategic planning efforts. All responses are completely anonymous.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us on this important topic. We welcome as much or as little as you wish to share, and we appreciate any insight you can provide.
Sincerely, Jill Proulx, Ph.D.

Holiday Season
When shopping for Christmas gifts this holiday season please consider a blanket donation for a senior in need!

My name is Richie Greene and I'm an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 39 Halifax, MA. To become an Eagle Scout I need to complete a service project benefiting the town.
For my service project I will be making a new map for the Halifax Central Cemetery. I will also be adding and building 2 marquee signs with the new map and 26 section signs that will help people find their lost loved ones with much more ease. The map will show the section in the big view and the section sign will confirm that you are in the right place to find the lost soul.
I'm looking for all the donations I can get to fund the marquee signs, the sections sign, and the delivery cost of said sign. The Marquee signs will ship assembled and I will be mixing concrete to pour and use to put the signs in place. The section signs will be hammered into the ground after they are assembled. I will need to also provide tools, Covid safety supplies, and refreshments for my volunteers.
Any donation will help and be greatly appreciated. Thank you for donation to the cause!

“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation -- either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
