Healing Your Heart: A Path to Freedom

At times, we all face intense emotions, compulsive behaviors, and the profound pain of grief. This midwinter retreat will help you uncover the connection between deep suffering and self-limiting beliefs and behaviors.

When pain feels overwhelming or blocked, many of us turn to addictive or compulsive behaviors—such as overeating, excessive drinking, overuse of screens, or overspending—as coping mechanisms. Often rooted in shame and a lack of self-love, these patterns can deepen our suffering.

Over two sessions, this retreat will guide you toward healing by addressing the underlying causes of these behaviors. Through body-centered practices like sound healing, expressive arts, narrative exploration, gentle yoga, guided meditation, and trance work, you’ll learn how to reconnect with yourself, release harmful patterns, and embrace self-compassion.

If you feel stuck in cycles of pain and self-limiting behaviors, this retreat offers a pathway forward. You’ll gain:

  • A psychological understanding of your compulsions and why they arise.
  • Tools for healing that nurture self-love and acceptance.
  • A supportive community to foster connection and accountability.

Between sessions, participants will receive exercises, email support, and reminders to help integrate the retreat’s principles and lessons into daily life. Meals, snacks, and all materials are included. Join us to begin a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation.

Addiction is a Human Certainty: Being Gentle with Ourselves is the First Part of Real Healing

by Liz Jorgensen

On September 21, 1985, I drank my last drink, (I don’t remember if I smoked weed that day, but I haven’t since) and if I make it until September 2025 I will be sober 40 years. Do I have unique wisdom and tricks to being in recovery? Nope, not at all really. So much about addiction and its devastating human losses are a mystery to those who suffer and those who try to help them heal, and I can only humbly offer a few thoughts and insights that have helped me. The longer I am alive the more addiction makes perfect sense; I see it everywhere. The revelation of the last decade or so is that humans can be ‘addicted’ to so many concepts, ideologies, material possessions, storylines, the list is endless.
