This young boy was a patient that Dr. Jacono operated on 4 years ago and he came back to see Dr. Jacono during this trip.

Dr. Greg Keiser and a team of 21 adventured off on a long 23 hour journey to provide Peruvian children with dental care.  The team left New York, flew to Lima, then an hour long flight to Iquitos, then a 4 hour journey by boat up the Amazon River to the remote location of the Tahuayo Lodge. Another hour long boat ride to get the team to the Esperanza clinic where the team worked. The team was hosted by Angels of the Amazon with Liaison, Dolly Beaver, of Amazonia Expeditions. The trip took place October 18 – 26, 2019.  Dana Buffin was the team administrator for this group.

Domestic Kids Program
Camella’s Cupboard
HTCNE participated again this year with Camella’s Cupboard

Camella’s Cupboard is based in New Milford, CT and hosts a Summer Lunch Bunch feeding program Monday through Friday throughout the summer for the local children in our area. HTCNE donated $1,100.00 to the charity towards this project which provided 115 lunches for children. This program costs about $3.00 per meal / $345.00 per day.  Many food items are obtained through donations so the average cost to run this program is $1,100.00 per week. The lunches consist of a sandwich, salty snack, sweet treat, and a drink.  A breakfast item was also included in the daily meal. In addition, a weekend lunch bag was also provided to each child containing two days of food.  According to Camella’s Cupboard, 30% of New Milford’s school children receive a free or reduced rate lunch with another 22% right on the threshold of needing this help. We were happy to contribute to such a worthy cause in our community.

By the way, Camella’s Cupboard is always seeking local volunteers to help put these meals together to support the children on their school breaks, weekend meals and the long summer break. If you would like to volunteer or learn more about them, visit their website:
www.camellascupboard.com   or contact Angie, their founder at:  (860) 717-2509.

The Sneaker Shoe Drive is still ongoing if you would like to donate.  We are collecting sneakers, sandals, and shoes for an orphanage/school in Masaka, Uganda, East Africa. Most of the children do not have shoes nor access to purchase any.  We learned of their need from GoatBoy Soap, a local business in New Milford, CT that supplies the kids with soap, hand-made uniforms, and sweaters.
Please contact Missy at (860) 355-1828 x 24 or email Missy at [email protected]

These kids are asking for our help!

All shoes accepted MUST be clean and gently used and
appropriate for children 4-18 years old (no toddler shoes or sneakers, please)
Thank you.
