Year-End Update:

Healing with Horses

As we close out 2025, we are deeply grateful for the community that makes Helping Hands Horse Rescue and Equine Therapy possible. This year, we strengthened our roots and expanded our reach—bringing hope, connection, and long-term healing to hundreds of individuals through the powerful partnership between humans and horses.

2025 at-a-Glance

  • 500+ equine-assisted therapy sessions provided
  • 700+ people served, including:

○ Adolescents in crisis

○ Couples and families

○ Individuals experiencing houselessness

○ Elderly adults in assisted living, memory care, and hospice

○ Support groups for blind and visually impaired adults

  • Equine therapy individual, groups and support/retreat programs
  • University partnerships, including educating George Fox University students how equine therapy supports mental health
  • Corporate team building, including an east coast company that flew senior managers cross country to experience a customized program
  • Reiki Energy treatments in nature with horses
  • Equine therapy demonstrations and educational workshops

Behind the Scenes

Our Sanctuary continued to thrive thanks to the dedication of our community:

  • We have 65 fantastic volunteers, including 4 live-in helpers
  • 5,840+ volunteer hours donated in service of our horses and programs.

We were also honored to receive four local grants in 2025—supporting both our therapy programs and the specialized care our therapy horses require.

Looking Ahead to 2026

In the coming year, we plan to expand our healing work even further by offering:

  • Equine therapy retreats and support groups for:
    ○ Breast cancer survivors
    ○ Nurses and first responders
    ○ Veterans
    ○ Women healing from abuse
  • Continued outreach to individuals experiencing houselessness
  • Ongoing therapy for elders in assisted living and memory care
  • Two full therapy scholarships for children or adults without insurance—providing sessions at no cost.

Your Support Makes This Possible!

Your Support Makes This Possible

50% of our annual budget comes from individual donations,

which means this work happens because of people like you.

As we enter a new year filled with possibility, we ask:

Can we count on you to help us continue this healing work?

We are also seeking grant leads—if you know of a foundation aligned with mental health, trauma recovery, or equine-assisted therapy, we would be grateful for an introduction.
