Health, Safety, and Programming Update: Oct. 15, 2020
SA Parents,

As we have continued to participate in weekly meetings with the Rowan County Department of Health, Novant Infectious Disease experts, and our medical task force, we have outlined some next steps in our return to school plan based on findings from the first nine weeks from schools across our region and country.

With our local community numbers in a place where next steps for schools can be discussed, and with the flexibility as an independent school to evolve as the information is updated, we will plan for the following next steps:

Week of October 19: 1st and 2nd grade students will transition to their original classroom locations with the lead teacher and assistant both in the room. Masking will remain a requirement inside and a moderate social distancing of 3 feet will also be maintained.

Week of October 26: 3rd and 4th grade students will transition to their original classroom locations with the teachers both in the classroom for teaching and student support.

We will give this transition a few weeks to monitor for any changes and then look to move our 7th and 8th grade students out of the gym and into the former middle school area the week of November 9.

These transitions will allow us to sustain the in-person instruction model for our students and staff and adhere to the mitigation efforts recommended by experts. We remain flexible to adapt as needed to the spread of COVID in our community.

Additionally, ASK programming will resume for the second trimester (see below for ASK information). If you anticipate using ASK on a regular basis, please notify Mrs. Melody Lee at [email protected].

Salisbury Academy will also hold two Enrichment Programs in Oct./Nov.: Mighty Kicks (grades K-3) and Holiday Sign Language (grades 2-4).

We can all support our efforts to remain open for in-person instruction by continuing to wear masks, practice social distancing, and avoid large group gatherings. See below for more details on ASK programming, SA Enrichment, and a link to the parent e-learning survey. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or feedback.
