An Indian Twist on a Bloody Mary
The Bloody Mary has been a long-time favorite at American brunches and grill parties. It's a savory cocktail made with a base of tomato juice and easily customizable using various spices and accompaniments. Restaurants, beverage companies, and home mixologists compete over how to make "the best" Bloody Mary. Alcohol is optional, as it has more than enough flavor to stand alone as a mocktail. It is savory and a little spicy and pairs well with salty foods and grilled meats, pickles, cheeses, olives (anything charcuterie). We made our own version of a Bloody Mary as a fun weekend experiment, and it turned out so delicious we decided to share the recipe with you.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Mix the Core Ingredients together in a large measuring cup.
- Taste. Add more salt if needed. Add sugar if you prefer it more sweet. Add more hot sauce or ghost pepper if you prefer it more spicy. It's all to your preference, so just go slow and adjust the amounts until you're satisfied with the result.
- On a plate, mix together flaky sea salt and the DIY Garam Masala powder. Wet the edge of your drinking glass and then tip in the salt and spin to coat the rim.
- Fill the glass to the top with ice.
- Add alcohol at this point (if making a cocktail) or skip to the next step.
- Pour the Core Ingredient tomato juice mixture over the ice.
- Add accompaniments and enjoy!
