#DYK About Drug Drop Boxes? While most people are aware of Drug Take Back Days, you can dispose of unwanted medication any time at any of the permanent drug drop sites in Winnebago County. Find the new disposal guidelines here. By disposing of prescription drugs correctly you can help:
- Improve water quality in Lake Winnebago.
- Reduce drug-related crime.
- Prevent prescription drug abuse.
- Prevent accidental poisoning, especially in children and pets.

New Wellness Plus classes are starting! Join Healthy Living with Diabetes, Stepping on, or Powerful Tools for Caregivers this October. Healthy Living with Diabetes is a workshop designed to help adults with type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes or for those that live with someone who has diabetes. Participants who take this workshop learn techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, learn about appropriate exercises, use of medication, and healthy eating strategies. | |
Stepping On is a falls prevention class that has been proven to reduce falls by 30%. The class is geared toward older adults who have fallen, worry about falling, or are at risk of falling. In this interactive class, participants will learn strength and balance exercises. There are a variety of topics including nutrition, footwear, medication, vision, and safety. | |
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational, interactive, and supportive program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend. Participants will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate feelings, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources. | |

#ICYMI: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) held a free webinar on September 28 about the basics of monkeypox, trends for the current outbreak in the U.S., what CDC is doing to reduce stigma, and how you can help. Closed captioning and live ASL and Spanish interpretation will be available. For more information please visit the CDC's website.

New Data Page: The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has launched a new Monkeypox Data Page which contains state data on monkeypox cases and vaccine administration. An in-depth summary report that highlights case demographics, hospitalizations, and vaccine allocation and administration efforts is also provided. The detailed demographic data will be updated monthly and the county case counts will be updated weekly on Wednesdays.

Vaccine Available Based On Eligibility: The Winnebago County Health Department is currently offering the JYNNEOS monkeypox vaccine, by appointment only, to individuals at the highest risk for infection. Prioritization is based on guidelines provided by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. To make an appointment or see if you are eligible to receive a vaccine, contact the Winnebago County Health Department Hotline at 920-232-3026 or email wchd.cd@winnebagocountywi.gov.
