Affordable Care Act enrollment for 2020 plans begins today for January 1, 2020 effective dates.  Health Excellence Plus is an attractive option for health-focused people who want to live a healthy lifestyle.

Individuals and families can select between three plan options— Partially Self-Directed Healthcare ; Direct Primary Care ; and Provider-Directed Healthcare .

All three programs utilize medical cost sharing for large expenses. Prospective members become cash-paying patients and share expenses with a community of like-minded people. They can select between five choices of individual Unshareable amounts, which are somewhat like a deductible in an insured plan. Choices are $500, $1,000, $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000.

The focus of the program is on prevention of chronic illnesses and avoidance of large expenses in the first place. Program elements include tools to avoid, prevent, manage, and mitigate large expenses before the medical cost sharing element (the contain portion of the healthy care strategy) are incurred.

While no one can be denied membership, the program is designed for healthy people who desire to live healthy lifestyles. Pre-existing conditions are not eligible for full sharing until the fourth year of membership.  There is no sharing of expenses for pre-existing conditions the first year; $15,000 maximum sharing the second year; and $30,000 the third year: full sharing for pre-existing conditions occurs during the fourth year of membership.

The program utilizes the Access Membership Guidelines . You should become familiar with these Guidelines, as they are the official description of how Sedera Medical Cost Sharing works.

Individuals and families can enroll any time during the year: prospective members are not required to have a qualified life event if they don’t enroll between November 1 and December 15. However, many people choose to enroll as of January 1, the date that coincides with the date insured programs under the Affordable Care Act are effective.

Depending on the age of the membership unit and the individual unshareable amount chosen, monthly contributions and reduction of incurred medical expenses through use of the tools provided can be 40 to 90% less than under an insured medical plan.
In a system of free-market healthcare, prices for healthcare goods and services are set freely by agreement between patients and health care providers, and the laws and forces of supply and demand are free from any intervention by a government, price-setting monopoly, insurance company, or other authority. A free market contrasts with a controlled market , in which government or an insurance company intervenes in supply and demand through non-market methods such as creation of barriers to market entry or directly setting prices.
