Welcome to the first issue of your UTRGV School of Medicine e-newsletter. As dean, I want to share news, updates and key information with you, given the rapid growth of our organization, and the development of new programs, innovative research and quality patient services across the Rio Grande Valley.
I am grateful to lead an exceptionally talented, diverse and growing team that is committed to teaching our students, discovering new cures and healing patients. As we prepare to receive our third class of
56 medical students, as well as
60 new residents, we wish the best success to th
e medical students of our charter class, who will serve the community and gain valuable clinical experience in their third year of preparation for a career in medicine. We also congratulate the
33 residents who recently completed their training as physicians at our partner hospitals.
It is my hope that you enjoy learning about the progress of our students and faculty as we continue to build a first-class school and expand clinical care through UT Health RGV. We are proud to serve the Rio Grande Valley.
Sincerely,
John H. Krouse, MD, PhD, MBA
