Medicare Open Enrollment: Oct. 15-Dec. 7

It's almost time to enroll in 2025 Medicare plans from Oct. 15-Dec. 7. Do you know the difference between Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans? Here are some basic differences:

Traditional Medicare

  • PRO: Nearly all doctors and hospitals participate nationwide.
  • CON: Supplement plans may be used to reduce out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare Advantage

  • PRO: Bundled coverage for hospitals, physicians and prescription drugs.
  • CON: Limited networks of hospitals and physicians.

Your choice will influence your access to hospitals, health care providers and prescription drugs.

Medicare Part D changes in 2025

Changes to Medicare Part D prescription coverage in 2025 could save you money and help you budget your prescription expenses. Changes include:

  • All Medicare plans will have a $2,000 cap on what you pay out-of-pocket for prescription drugs covered by your plan.
  • This $2,000 can be spread out over the calendar year (which avoids patients paying all $2,000 at once).
  • Patients must opt-in to the payment plan.
