Aspen Institute Grant Supports Georgetown Community Mental Health Workers Program

The Aspen Institute’s Ascend, a catalyst and convener for diverse leaders working across systems and sectors to build intergenerational family prosperity and well-being, has selected the Early Childhood Intervention Network, led by pediatrics professor Matthew Biel, MD, as one of its 15 inaugural grant recipients for its 2Gen Accelerator Community.

New Policy on E-Scooter/Lithium-Ion Equipped Micro-Mobility Devices

Due to the fire-safety danger presented by lithium-ion-equipped micro-mobility devices, Georgetown has banned these devices from all university-owned and operated buildings. This policy covers the storage and charging of all micro-mobility devices equipped with lithium-ion batteries including but not limited to e-scooters, e-bikes and hoverboards, and it applies to all students, faculty, staff and visitors at Georgetown. This policy does not limit the use of micro-mobility devices that are necessary due to a disability or medical reason. Read the new policy.

New Agreement Allows Access to Shared Resources at George Washington University

Georgetown and George Washington University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that grants faculty access to shared resources for the purposes of conducting research. Under the terms of the MoU, faculty will be charged reduced “internal” fees-for-service for use of the shared resources, independent of their home institution. Resources include the GW Nanofabrication and Imaging Center and the GW Biorepository. Please contact Stephen Byers for additional information.

Global Health Institute's 2024 Student Fellows Program - Applications Due January 18

The Georgetown Global Health Institute Student Fellows Program is an opportunity for talented undergraduate and graduate students to work with Georgetown faculty on research projects, as well as network with one another and scholars in the global health field. All full-time undergraduate and graduate students across schools are eligible to apply. Applications for the spring 2024 fellowship are due by 1:00 p.m. on January 18. Apply here.

Mary’s Center Toy Drive Seeks Donations Through Wednesday

In partnership with the School of Nursing Committee on Mission and Values, the Mary’s Center Holiday Toy Drive provides gifts for more than 1,000 children during the holiday season. Donations may be made through the Mary’s Center Holiday Toy Drive Amazon Wish List through December 20.
