Nursing, Medical Students Honor the Gift of Anatomical Donors

Students from Georgetown’s School of Medicine and School of Nursing came together to honor and pay respect to those who donated their bodies to benefit their education, and to express gratitude to their families, at the annual interfaith Anatomical Donor Memorial Celebration at Dahlgren Chapel on the university’s campus.

Health Justice Scholars Share Passion for Future Patients

For Health Justice Week 2024, fourth-year medical students on the Health Justice Scholar longitudinal academic track shared their capstone presentations on topics including barriers to health equity for transgender patients, how COVID-19 affected those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, addressing food insecurity and more.

Georgetown Nursing Faculty Teach ‘Helping Babies Breathe’ Program to Reduce Tanzania’s Neonatal Mortality Rate

Georgetown nursing faculty members, alongside their Tanzania counterparts, trained dozens of nurse-midwives to perform a highly effective, yet simple strategy that can prevent up to a third of newborn deaths by helping babies breathe in the moments after birth.

Patients Benefit from Attending to Spirituality in Healthcare, Says Georgetown University Bioethics Expert

In a Perspective piece titled "Physicians, Spirituality, and Compassionate Patient Care" in the March 21 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, Daniel P. Sulmasy, MD, PhD, André Hellegers Professor of Biomedical Ethics and director of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University, argues for the clinical and ethical importance of attending to spiritual well-being in the healing process.

Vicennial Medals Awarded at Spring Faculty Convocation

On March 20, Kathleen Maguire-Zeiss, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Neuroscience, received a President's Award for Distinguished Scholar-Teachers at the Spring Faculty Convocation. Watch this video about her and the other recipients.


The convocation also celebrated full-time members of the faculty and academic staff who have given 20 years of service to the university with the Vicennial Medal. Presidential Management Fellow Finalist Aims to Take Neuroscience Knowledge into Public Service
