Hello Zach,

It’s almost time for inspections!

Health and Safety Inspections will occur between Monday, September 9, and Thursday, September 12. All spaces will be entered for inspections and involve a visual overview of your room to ensure the absence of health and safety hazards/violations.

This email correspondence should serve as an official notice regarding inspections. Please note that these violations may incur charges on the first citation. Upon inspections, students who have violations will be notified and have 24 hours to address those violations. Failure to address those violations may result in additional charges and referral to the University’s student conduct process.

Please note that while we generally provide 24 hours to permanently address the violation, specific violations of the Guide to Community Living and any violations of the WFU Student Code of Conduct will be documented and result in an immediate response. Health and Safety Inspections are for our students' and residential communities' wellbeing, so we take them very seriously. If you have questions about the inspections or potential violations after reviewing the Guide to Community Living and the WFU Student Code of Conduct, please reach out to your community staff.

Finally, your community staff will close and lock your doors as they finish inspecting rooms. Be sure to take your keys and student ID with you as you leave your rooms during inspection week!

Violations include but are not limited to:

  • Unsafe extension cords
  • Improperly lofted beds
  • Excessive trash
  • Storage/use of lounge furniture in your room assignment
  • Blocked egress
  • Crowded ventilation
  • Items hung from ceiling/sprinkler
  • Candles
  • Storage of flammable items
  • Removed Furniture
  • Please note that all items provided in your room and/or shared living room space must remain there; these items cannot be removed or replaced.
