We hope all families were able to enjoy a break this holiday season! On Jan. 5, Omaha Public Schools began our phased return to in-person learning for the second semester. Most of our students began with remote instruction, while JP Lord School and the Zoo Academy returned in person five days a week.

We are also working closely with public health leaders and medical experts for the health, safety and well-being of everyone in our school communities. This phased return in-person learning will limit traffic on-site and allow students and families to return to their routine following an extended winter break.

In-person instruction will return with the Family 3/2 Model on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The Remote Learning Program will remain an option for students who wish to continue learning full-time from home during the second semester. Families interested in moving to remote learning should contact their child's school.

We wish everyone the very best as we continue learning together in 2021.
Looking forward, our phased return for the second semester will continue over the next few weeks:

  • Monday, Jan. 11, 2021: K-12 ACP, Transition, Elementary BSP, Early Childhood Special Education, Homebased/Homebound and Hearing Impaired classrooms return in person five days a week.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021: All students return in-person following the Family 3/2 Model attendance calendar. Gateway to College, OPS/UNO Middle College Program, Parrish and the Student Success Program return in person five days a week.
Week of Jan. 11, 2021: OPS phases some students into in-person learning.
  • Meals2Go on Mondays and Wednesdays will return to the previous times:
  • Elementary: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Secondary: 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
  • Students who have phased back into in-person learning will have meals provided.

Week of Jan. 18, 2021: OPS resumes the Family 3/2 Model on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
  • Due to the holiday on Monday, Jan. 18, Meals2Go will be distributed on Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the original times.
  • Elementary: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Secondary: 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
