The Surgeon General's Framework for Workplace Mental Health and Well-Being

Last week the U.S. surgeon general released a new Framework for Workplace Mental Health & Well-Being that outlines the foundational role workplaces should play in promoting the health and well-being of workers and our communities. As reports of “quiet quitting” and the Great Resignation have shown, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the nature of work for many and the relationship some workers have with their jobs. The press release explains why focusing on mental health and well-being is beneficial to workers, organizations, and communities. Please share the framework and start discussing how your child welfare program can "rethink how they protect workers from harm, foster a sense of connection among workers, show workers that they matter, make space for their lives outside work, and support their growth." -Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General

Supporting a Culture of Wellness

Resources to help you support a culture of wellness in your workplace are available in our resource library. Below are a few highlights.

National Adoption Month

This year's theme is Small Steps Open Doors. The campaign seeks to increase national awareness of adoption issues, bring attention to the need for adoptive families for teens in the foster care system, and emphasize the value of youth engagement.

For those working with teens, you'll find valuable resources on the NAM website to incorporate youth voice, build relationships, and empower youth to make decisions that impact their lives.

For those working in recruitment, AdoptUSKids has launched two new public service announcements that can be customized for recruitment events and orientations - at no cost!

We are honored to support your workforce development efforts. Please contact Sharon Kollar if you have questions or need further assistance.
