Many states have begun reopening business, beaches, restaurants and retail stores. While I am as impatient as anyone to see my family and friends, it is important that we all still observe the basic precautions outlined by the CDC at the beginning of the pandemic: do not go out if you have symptoms of COVID-19. Wear a face covering in public. Avoid large gatherings. Follow the recommendations regarding the number of people allowed to gather provided by local authorities. Practice physical distancing. Even as areas are reopening, many have not seen the reliable sustained decreases in positive cases, hospitalizations, and deaths that would indicate it is safe to abandon these behaviors. As president and CEO of NHF, the safety of the bleeding disorders community is my top concern. But as a doctor and an American, the health of the entire community of the country is important to me as well. I hope you will do your utmost to protect your own family, friends and community as well.
If you have specific questions about COVID-19,
please send them to NHF
and I will do my best to address them in the next issue or webinar.
