NEW RECORD SET DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT

Celebrations are in order following a record-setting open enrollment season for the health insurance marketplace. More than 24 million people nationally re-enrolled or signed up for new health coverage, which included more than 46,000 people in Wyoming.

Enroll Wyoming is proud of our part in reaching this milestone. To help realize how far we've come, remember that in 2020 about 26,000 Wyomingites signed up for marketplace coverage. We've come a long way and intend to go farther.

Our most sincere thanks go out to our partners, supporters, and consumers who spread the word about the marketplace, shared flyers and posts, or made referrals to help connect people with life-changing health coverage. Now that we have reached special enrollment season, we hope we can keep relying on those connections to help more households secure the health insurance they need.

SPECIAL ENROLLMENT MAY BE AN OPTION FOR THOSE WHO MISSED OPEN ENROLLMENT

The usual questions started Jan. 16, the day after open enrollment ended. "What do I do if I missed open enrollment?" people ask.

"Let's see if you qualify for special enrollment," Enroll Wyoming Navigators reply.

Fewer people qualify for coverage through the health insurance marketplace during special enrollment because there are more restrictions. People who experience a life-changing event, such as loss of health coverage, marriage, divorce, childbirth, adoption, or a change in income may qualify for special enrollments.

Enroll Wyoming offers free assistance to people to see if they qualify for special enrollment of other community resources. To connect with a skilled navigator, visit EnrollWyo.org or call 211.

WHAT IS A CDO AND HOW DO THEY HELP MORE PEOPLE SECURE HEALTH INSURANCE?

Is your organization interested in doing more to help people find affordable health coverage? Enroll Wyoming has 11 health insurance navigators who help people explore and understand their options. Navigators do a lot on their own, but their outreach efforts are amplified and extended by partners whose staff go through training to offer similar health coverage assistance.

Organizations that become a Certified Application Counselor Designated Organization, or CDO, have staff members or volunteers trained to serve as certified application counselors.

In hospitals, clinics, and community resource centers around Wyoming, CACs help people access the health insurance marketplace. When complex cases arrive, they call in navigators to help them resolve challenges.

As more people are trained to help the public find health insurance, more Wyomingites will secure life-saving coverage. To learn more about becoming a CDO, click here. To learn how Enroll Wyoming works with CDOs, see the accompanying video with HealthWorks.
