State Chamber Update

Near the top of most polling data that measures concern of employers is the cost of healthcare for employees and retirees. This topic has been and will continue to be part of the dialogue that candidates for public office will debate over for the next several months. In a recent interview with former Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini, he shares his view of “Medicare for All” and what that could mean for providers and consumers. These are challenging topics as our society manages lifestyle issues and the benefits of medical breakthroughs that solve unique disease problems within very limited populations.

On Tuesday, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Index data for September will be out, as well as the Producer Price Index. September Consumer Price Index numbers will be out on Thursday, and we end the week with an early look at October Consumer sentiment data this Friday.
