Changes to COVID-19 Data Collection and Reporting

The end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) initiated a cascade of updates to COVID-19 data collection, reporting, and surveillance. Some surveillance metrics remain the same, but some have changed. The CDC’s COVID Data Tracker reflects these changes. The COVID Data Tracker displays hospital admissions, deaths, and emergency department visits data as primary surveillance metrics for COVID-19. This data will help inform public health actions to protect those at highest risk of severe COVID-19.
