Vaccination Rates Low Despite Uptick in Respiratory Illness

Seasonal influenza and COVID-19 activity remain high across the country. The U.S. continues to experience elevated RSV activity especially among young children. Hospital beds remain stable nationally. However, some parts of the country are reporting strain on hospitals locally, driven by recent increases in respiratory illnesses. CDC provides a weekly summary of the key viral respiratory illness findings as well as access to additional information. Access here. CDC reports that vaccination coverage for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV vaccines remain low. Vaccines are available and can help protect people from the most serious health effects of winter viruses.

IPRO QIN-QIO has created an animated video to educate patients about the benefits of the pneumococcal vaccine. Download the video to share with your patients and residents in waiting areas or other available screens.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations, ED Visits Decrease; Deaths Increase

The greatest number of COVID-19 cases continue to be seen in adults 75 years and older.

Long-term care facilities confirmed COVID-19 cases remain high at 12.6/1000 cases for the week ending January 14.

Vaccination remains a vital tool to protect public health. One dose of the updated 2023-2024 Moderna, Pfizer, or Novavax vaccine is required for individuals to be considered up to date.

V-Safe Lets Patients Share How they Feel After COVID-19 or RSV Vaccine

V-safe is a vaccine safety monitoring system that lets individuals share with CDC how they or their dependent feels after getting a participating vaccine. It takes just a few minutes to register using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. After registering, participants will receive text messages or emails to complete short, confidential health check-ins via text messages or email. Participation in V-safe helps CDC monitor the safety of the COVID-19 and RSV vaccines.
