National Minority Donor Awareness Week
Did you know that nearly 60% of people on the national transplant waiting list are ethnic minorities? National Minority Donor Awareness Week, observed during the first week of August, seeks to heighten awareness of the need for donation and transplantation in minority communities. Launched in 1996, this special week was created to increase awareness of the need for more organ, eye, and tissue donors from ethnically diverse communities.
