Helpful transition information

Dear colleagues,

We’re pleased that many of you have transitioned seamlessly to our new University of Maine System (UMS) healthcare and prescription insurance plans. We want to share a few important tips and reminders based on questions we have been receiving.

New ID Card - one card for medical services and prescriptions!

  • Insurance ID cards were mailed in December. If you have not yet received your card, please contact Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem) at 1-833-621-0305.

  • This single card covers your Anthem medical and Capital Rx (CapRx) pharmacy/prescription benefits. Use it for medical appointments and to fill prescriptions.

  • Once you have received your card, you can review your benefits or print your ID card on the Anthem website or through the Sydney Health app on your phone.

Prior Authorizations - medical and prescription

  • If a prior authorization for a procedure or treatment did not carry forward, please contact Anthem at 1-833-621-0305 or visit Anthem’s website.

  • If your provider needs to resubmit a prior authorization, they can work directly with Anthem or CapRx to help expedite the process.

If you need additional assistance or have questions, please contact the UMS Employee Benefits Center at 207-973-3373 or by email at benefits@maine.edu. We understand that access to your benefits is important, and we’re here to help. View these details and more at your convenience on the benefits information page

Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep your care and coverage on track.

Best regards,

Your Employee Benefits Center
