Thank You For Filling Out Mobile Crisis On-Call Survey
Thank you to all of the clinical staff who recently took the time to fill out our survey on HealthWest's current mobile crisis on-call plan.
Nearly 180 surveys were completed and the results were recently presented to the Clinical Operations team. That team will use the collected data to better inform how we plan to address mobile crisis on-call duties moving forward.
Thaks again for your input and your dedication to the people we serve.

CARF Survey is Coming Soon
As many of you heard during our staff meeting this week, our CARF Survey is coming in the next couple of months. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) commits us to the quality care we serve daily.
Our CARF Survey is an onsite visit, and the surveyors will visit each HealthWest location. Some of the items they will be observing will be:
- Lat43 Records
- Training Completion Records (Are Yours Up to Date?)
- Credentialing Documents
- Consumer Documentation
- Workstations
- Consumer Feedback
Although we do not know the exact day of the audit, we will receive 30 days' notice and we expect it to be sometime in March or April. Matt Plaska will be giving us updates during each staff meeting leading up to the survey and we will send out communications when needed.
For more information and resources, check out the Accreditation page on The Compass.

Brandy Carlson recently discussed a new time system that will be launching soon, Attendance On Demand (AOD).
This new system is being launched for a couple main reasons:
- So we can meet accounting deadlines and rules for the State
- More efficient tracking of time for grants
AOD will replace Timeout and the yellow time off sheets. All annual leave requests will be submitted through AOD. The system will also make it easier to track your time if you work in different grants and programs; simply click the Transfer button and select the program. This will help prevent errors on your paycheck.
If you already have requests approved and scheduled in Time Out, have no fear; it will be transferred over, and you will not have to resubmit the request. Another item to note is that the system will not be tracking breaks, but it will track lunches.
Leading up to the launch of this new system, we will be providing updates, training and tips to make this change easier for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brandy Carlson.
Below is a video showing you tips and tricks of AOD. We highly recommend you watch it as it could help answer some questions for you.

Using Control Center to Turn Do Not Disturb On or Off
Have you noticed that phone calls to your iPhone do not seem to be coming through or are going straight to voicemail? Are you not receiving any notifications or alerts?
Do Not Disturb may have been enabled accidentally. Do Not Disturb can silence calls, alerts, and notifications. When Do Not Disturb is on, a crescent moon icon appears in the status bar and on your Lock Screen.
To check this setting:
1) Swipe down on the phone’s screen from the top right where the cell service signal bars, WiFi signal icon, and battery icon are.
2) On this new screen called the Control Center, there is an oval icon that should read Focus in the middle left of the screen.
3) The icon in the oval may say that Do Not Disturb is on and a crescent moon icon will be highlighted.
4) Switch Do Not Disturb off and on by tapping on this icon.

Changes Coming to HW Training Requirements
As many of you are aware, the state is currently in the process of testing its new MichiCANS assessment tool for individuals under 21 living with serious emotional disturbances and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. HealthWest is currently participating in the MichiCANS soft launch, and it is anticipated this tool will roll out statewide later this year.
As part of this rollout, it is anticipated the state will begin requiring and hosting its own TCOM and MichiCANS training for any staff who may use this tool. In response, HealthWest has updated its own training schedule to ensure our staff continues to meet training requirements while eliminating potentially duplicative TCOM training.
Training Changes Include:
- The suspension of all HealthWest-hosted TCOM trainings
-
The addition of Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care and Person-Centered Planning modules in Relias (the subject matter of these courses is required by our accreditors and was previously covered in TCOM)
- The elimination of CANS/ANSA certification training for anyone certified in MichiCANS
Current HealthWest staff who are up-to-date on their required TCOM training should notice little immediate change. For these individuals, the three new Relias modules will not be required until they are due for their annual refreshers.
For new staff and existing staff who are past due on TCOM training, these new Relias modules will be due within 30 days.
Any staff who receives MichiCANS certification should forward their certification to the HealthWest Training Department at training@healthwest.net so it can be uploaded to their Relias transcript.
Staff and supervisors should begin seeing these changes in Relias over the next few days.
It is important to note that the state's training plan and requirements associated with the MichiCANS launch have not yet been finalized. While HealthWest has made these training changes to reduce demands on our staff's time and better prepare for the full MichiCANS launch, please understand that additional changes may be necessary once the state's plans are complete.
If you have any questions about these changes or general training questions, please contact Training Coordinator Gina Schaner.
