The Healthy Aging Sandbox Challenge Final Pitch event brought together over 90 people from across the MassDigitalHealth and AgeTech ecosystems to network, engage with R&D Sandboxes, watch a demo from MIT’s AgeLab, hear from our engaging panelists, and cheer on our Healthy Aging Sandbox Challenge finalists.
The Challenge was organized by MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech, and awarded $50,000 to four innovative companies, which will allow them to test their solutions with one of the cutting-edge centers in the Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Network.
The winners are:
-
Artifcts: Artifcts is an online and app-based platform that allows members to capture, preserve, and share the history, stories, and memories behind their most cherished objects. They will work with UMass Chan Medical School to complete a pilot studying the feasibility of using the Artifcting process as a digital screening tool for mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
-
Enabled Health: EnabledHealth will work with Brigham Digital Innovation Hub to perform a clinical trial of their SaaS platform for hospitals that automates patient mobility at scale via virtual exercise training powered by AI.

They will work with New England Deaconess Association to pilot their digital health coach, Monica, in a Deaconess senior living facility to optimize care plan assessment and delivery, as well as enhance residents’ independence and experience.
-

On June 15th, Boston-based myBiometry was the recipient of MeHI's $10,000 cash award for innovation at Boston Scientific's Connected Patient Challenge VII, administered by M2D2, myBiometry is a platform designed to remotely monitor and manage patients with asthma using software and biomarker data generated from proprietary sensors.
Their solution is designed to stop asthma attacks before they happen by measuring biomarkers of airway inflammation, specifically fractional exhaled nitric oxide in a patient’s breath. Nitric oxide levels can indicate a potential asthma attack long before any outward symptoms arise. Checking those levels daily helps to determine the risk of attack, monitor adherence and efficacy of medication, and track exposure to environmental triggers. Patients can then make lifestyle changes to lower their risk of an attack.
The aim is to offer personalized, predictive risk models for each patient, so patients can take action to ultimately improve asthma control. While their initial focus is asthma, the company hopes to expand to support other chronic health conditions in the future. Learn more about myBiometry here.
