FTC Proposes Changes to
Health Breach Notification Rule
| |
In September 2021, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released a policy statement affirming that health apps and other connected devices are subject to the Health Breach Notification Rule (HBNR). After reviewing public comments related to the 2021 policy statement, the FTC has proposed a number of changes to the HBNR. The FTC has invited public comment on the proposed changes, which clarify the rule’s coverage of health apps and other emerging technology. Once the notice is published in the Federal Register, the public will have a 60-day window to comment on the proposed rule changes. Read more from Health IT Security. | |
