Keeping up with Healthy Minds

The Healthy Minds family has been in transition! We have moved back to Southern California and are excited to be back in the state where Healthy Minds originated.

We have a number of exciting happenings to share with you! Please read on to learn about a Los Angeles area film screening, the importance of identifying and understanding the underlying needs children and students are experiencing, services currently available, and an education survey. We look forward to reconnecting with colleagues, clients, friends, and community in California once again.

Private Screening of The Microbirth Plan

Healthy Minds Consulting, in collaboration with the Berlin Wellness Group, is hosting a private screening of this new (and not yet released to the public) documentary exploring how the way we are born can shape our lifelong health.

Through breathtaking science and real human stories, the film shows how small choices and simple actions at birth can have an extraordinary impact, not just for individual families, but potentially, for the future of humanity.

Supportive Advocacy

Kelly Rain Collin, Healthy Minds' Founder and Director, is once again available for educational advocacy support for families in Southern California. Kelly Rain's unique perspective incorporates understanding of state and national laws with expertise in perceiving behaviors through an integrated nervous-system perspective.

Kelly Rain has been working with and learning from the FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) community for over a decade and integrates brain and nervous-system-aligned approaches into her work with all neurodivergent students.

Direct advocacy is available in California and FASD-Informed educational consultation is available throughout the United States and its territories.

If we are focused on our wants rather than the child's needs our interventions will not be successful. - Kelly Rain Collin Ed.M.

Meeting the underlying need a child or student is experiencing in the moment is essential for learning, cooperation, and connection.

FASD United's Education Survey announcement

FASD United
has just announced the launch of their

National Education Survey, which will be used to improve the recognition and support of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) in schools.

Students with FASD thrive with the right supports and services, yet so many children struggle because their needs go unmet. FASD United is seeking the perspectives of teachers, parents/caregivers, and individuals with living experience.

FASD is often a non-apparent disability, and many teachers are working with children impacted by FASD without realizing it. Sharing the survey with your own child’s teacher and school will help with identifying the needed systems-wide changes and solutions to address the needs of students with FASD.

Responses to this short education survey will inform future training opportunities and policy decisions with the goal of improving educational outcomes for children with FASD. Every voice is critical. Please complete the survey and share what you want policymakers to know about serving students with FASD.
