August 2022: Back-to-School
Follow Your Dreams
As an educator, we know it has been very hard in and out of the classroom. In these extraordinary times, it is challenging and it may feel like what is being taught is not making a connection with youth.

In Portland at THRIVE 2022, Native youth wrote a song and created a video that is worth watching! It not only shows how creative and resilient native youth can be, but it also shows how educators are behind-the-scenes advisors in the lives of youth. It is their tireless commitment and support that today's youth can truly follow their dreams.

We want to congratulate you for your dedication to youth! You rock! The August issue has tools and resources for your back-to-school educator toolbox! Welcome back for another school year - stoodis! Skoden!

In Closing: THRIVE 2022
THRIVE is an annual summer conference for Native youth ages 13-19 from the Pacific Northwest Tribes and beyond. The THRIVE conference brings youth together to learn about health promotion and disease prevention with a strong focus on suicide prevention and mental health skill building. THRIVE 2022 was in-person once again since 2019. It was good medicine for all involved: youth, chaperones, educators and of course, staff! We are back!

We salute the educators, chaperones and caring adults who rallied to be at THRIVE 2022.
We also give a shout out to all who are coming together, this new school year, to raise healthy native youth! We stand with you in spirit! We thank YOU!
