Shaping a Healthier Pima County—Together!

CHIP Progress

Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)

The CHIP Steering Committee has been meeting regularly to respond to issues defined in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The CHIP is focused on three priority areas: Behavioral Health, Access to Care, and Roadway Safety.

PCHD-led strategies are being implemented, such as expanding mental health education, strengthening Community Health Worker programs, and developing roadway safety plans
Community-led strategies are being developed that emphasize collaboration, system alignment, and advocacy.

Healthy Pima Indicator Spotlight

The Healthy Pima Indicators are a set of measurable health-related areas that, when focused on collectively, can improve health in Pima County. Tracking these important areas helps diverse groups and organizations work together to make our community healthier and support overall well-being.

The Pima County Health Department is tracking 11 indicators grouped into 4 categories. In each newsletter, we will highlight one indicator and share examples of the work we are doing to support improvements toward achieving optimal health outcomes in that area.

Heat

The heat season is not over, and the Pima County Health Department continues to work hard to prevent environmental heat‑related illness as part of its ongoing seasonal plan to Beat the Heat!

Collaboration in Action: Expanding Access to Period Products

Collaboration strengthens Pima County by helping organizations meet community needs more effectively. The Pima County Public Library recently partnered with the Period Poverty Coalition, providing over 1,000 pads and tampons to the Pima County Health Department. These supplies will be distributed through Health Department clinics and programs across the county.

This partnership shows how local agencies can work together to reduce barriers, promote dignity, and connect essential resources directly to the people who need them.
