| | HEALTHY RC TEEN SUMMIT RECAP | | |
On Wednesday, April 1, Healthy RC hosted its 8th Annual Teen Summit, bringing together over 100 teens for a day focused on mental wellness, personal growth, and connection. Mayor Pro-Tem Lynne Kennedy kicked off the event with high energy and inspiring remarks that set a positive and empowering tone for the day.
Teens engaged in a powerful keynote presentation by Kyle Quilausing, “You Are One Choice Away from a Different Life,” which encouraged youth to reflect on the impact of their decisions and personal potential. The event also featured a resource fair with 20 community partners and mental health organizations, providing valuable information and support services for teens.
Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of mental wellness and hands-on activities, including puppy yoga, flower arranging, dream jars, a collaborative paint pass, hat making, and CPR/Narcan training. The summit concluded with a Songs for Self-Expression activity, giving teens an opportunity to reflect and share through music. Overall, the event created a meaningful space for youth to build connections, explore wellness strategies, and feel supported within their community.

Compassionate Corner
April is Stress Awareness Month — a timely reminder of the importance of caring for our mental and emotional well-being. One of the most powerful (and simple) ways to reduce stress is through compassion and kindness, both toward others and ourselves.
Small acts, like checking in on a friend, offering a kind word, or taking a moment to practice self-care, can go a long way in easing stress and creating a sense of connection. When we lead with empathy, we help build a supportive environment where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
This month, let’s be intentional about slowing down, showing grace, and spreading kindness in our daily lives. Together, we can create a healthier, more compassionate Rancho Cucamonga, one small act at a time.
Have a kindness story to share? We’d love to hear it! Please email your story & help inspire others to keep the kindness going. HealthyRC@CityofRC.us.
