May 2025 Steering Committee Newsletter

Thank you to everyone who attended our April 2025 Healthy RC Steering Committee meeting featuring a presentation by the Healthy RC Department on the New City Ordinance to regulate the use of bicycles and e-conveyances in public areas. These ordinances aim to protect riders and residents of our city. We appreciate your continued support, time, and energy as we work together on impactful projects, programs, and initiatives that make Rancho Cucamonga the healthiest that it can be!

Join us for our next meeting in-person on Tuesday, May 27 at Rancho Cucamonga City Hall (10500 Civic Center Dr.) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Inland SoCal United Way will be hosting a Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training to equip participants with skills to recognize and respond to warning signs. Lunch will be provided!

Be sure to check out the Healthy RC website for the most recent updates, Healthy RC highlights, and upcoming events.

YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

Small Habits Lead to Big Differences

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind us that mental health is just as important as physical health. Whether you're navigating challenges or simply building resilience, it’s essential to create habits that support your well-being, like taking walks, gardening, or connecting with loved ones. Small actions can build a strong foundation for mental health.

Join the City of Rancho Cucamonga and Healthy RC in promoting mindfulness, self-care, and kindness through helpful resources and opportunities for connection—because your mind matters. Click below to explore tools that support your mental wellness and the well-being of those around you.

CELEBRATE NATIONAL BIKE MONTH–BOOST YOUR

MOOD ON TWO WHEELS

Did you know that biking can significantly improve your mental health? Riding a bike can lower stress, reduce anxiety, and ease symptoms of depression through the release of endorphins and increased exposure to nature. The rhythmic, repetitive motion of cycling can have a calming, meditative effect that helps clear the mind and improve focus.

Experience these benefits firsthand by joining us for our Community Bike Ride on Saturday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pacific Electric Trailhead at Milliken Ave. (Central Park 11200 Base Line Rd.). Every participant will receive a set of free bike lights and the first 50 will receive a free helmet. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors, boost your well-being, and connect with others in the community.

Compassionate Corner

Kindness and mental health go hand in hand, making a meaningful impact on both individuals and communities. The smallest acts—extending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, or sharing a warm smile—can provide comfort, reduce stress, and foster a sense of connection. By prioritizing empathy in our daily interactions, we not only uplift others but also contribute to a supportive environment where mental well-being thrives. Each act of kindness sparks a ripple effect, inspiring others to do the same and strengthen the collective well-being of our communities.
