Jeffco Day of Gratitude

November 20th, 2024

Support students in building empathy and self-esteem while contributing to a positive school culture by participating in Jeffco’s Day of Gratitude. On this day, schools will be encouraged to support students in exploring gratitude and what this means to them in everyday life.

Resources will be available to support schools in making this day successful. Resources will include a gratitude lesson plan, supplies to create a gratitude wall, gratitude movement breaks and a gratitude spot to be placed in a high trafficked location to promote continued awareness of gratitude throughout the year.

Bring Heart & Sole (Girls on the Run for grades 6-8) to Your School!

Now Registering for Spring 2025

Healthy Schools is covering all fees for students to participate in Heart & Sole. Bring this before or after school program to your school and empower young girls to find their voices while building confidence and community! This unique program, designed specifically for middle school girls, combines physical activity with important life skills like teamwork, self-expression, and goal-setting. Even if your school already has a cross country team or running club, Heart & Sole offers a supportive environment where girls can connect and grow personally, regardless of their athletic ability. By participating, they’ll develop resilience and leadership skills that extend far beyond the track. Join us in fostering a positive, inclusive space where every girl can thrive!

  • The 10 week program teaches key social and emotional skills to girls while setting the goal of running a 5K.
  • Lessons integrate running with skills such as standing up for oneself and others, identifying comfortable and uncomfortable emotions, and fostering positive self-talk.

3rd Annual Switch Witch @ Parmalee Elementary

The third annual Parmalee Elementary Switch Witch will be taking place the week following Halloween. The Switch Witch is put on by the student-led Health and Wellness committee.

Switch Witch encourages students to not only give up some sugary sweets but to also help those in need. All candy donated to Parmalee is then taken to Mountain Resource Center in Conifer to be distributed to families in need.

Students are encouraged to bring any amount of candy the week following Halloween.

The class that brings the most candy (weight) receives a bonus PE class! Last year Parmalee donated over 300 pounds of candy!

Jeffco Healthy Schools wants to support students in developing healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Developing healthy habits at a young age can have positive impacts on both their physical and mental wellbeing.

The Power of Gratitude!

Did you know that gratitude has both mental and physical health benefits?

Expressing gratitude and cultivating it in ourselves has been linked to increased happiness, greater mental well-being, and higher self-esteem. Studies have also shown that expressing gratitude can improve sleep and decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety and chronic pain. People of all ages can benefit from developing the healthy habit of practicing gratitude.
