The lifestyle of our ancestors required a lot of manual labor, that kept them rather fit. Our lifestyle today is filled with technology, automation, and fast food. We require much less muscle use. It is no wonder we no longer have a healthy lifestyle.
Here are two tips to try at lunchtime.
Walk or jog at lunch.
Getting steps daily - shooting for at least 10,000 a day - helps to avoid being sedentary. Moving more reduces inflammation which can contribute to a variety of chronic diseases.
Pack your lunch!
There are multiple benefits for packing your own lunch:
- You have control. Preparing your own lunch gives you the ability to use quality ingredients, manage any specific dietary needs, and control portions.
- You are less likely to be tempted by fast, convenience foods that are generally high in artificial ingredients.
- Buying in bulk at the grocery store, eating leftovers, and choosing less expensive items can help lower the cost of your weekly meals.
- You will save time by having your meal prepared. You can sit down for a lunch break with time left to take a walk. Preparing several meals at a time increases the convenience factor.
