RECAP of Oct 30 panel in SF
Here's some learnings (RF note: thanks to posting by attendee Jenny Morel, leader of tech community MORGO, high-growth companies going global from New Zealand and Australia):
- Valuations are hyped. Y Combinator graduates being offered $25M. Hyped at all levels but particularly the B and C rounds - better to invest early.
- AI companies scale faster than other SaaS companies. Very cost efficient.
- It's a good time to invest: lots of good companies to invest in.
- Seed rounds around $10M. Series A can be $100M. Some companies are growing sales 20x per annum.
- Some of these companies may not need further rounds because revenue growing so fast.
- General Catalyst's new fund is $8bn! Doing dozens of early stage deals per year.
- Leonis Capital not hiring staff because using AI to source deal flow, do market research.
So overall it's the amount of money going into AI and the huge number of deals - the time to move is NOW!
