Shoulder Pain - What are the next steps?
One area of care that we would like to address is shoulder pain. Many times, it is difficult for a patient to know whether their shoulder pain is coming from their cervical spine or from the actual structure of the shoulder itself.
In most cases, it is best to receive an evaluation from their cervical spine or from the actual structures of the shoulder itself. In most cases, it is best to receive an evaluation from one of our Orthopaedic Surgeons versus self-diagnosing. Diagnostic tests such as x-rays and MRIs are often utilized to obtain detailed images of bone and soft tissue that aid us in diagnosing and treating. Many times simple stretches, ice, anti-inflammatories, and or physical therapy is the only treatment necessary. We have found that people tend to delay care which would cause more harm than good. It's important to seek care at the onset of discomfort to avoid potential complications, longer recovery times, and an overall poor outcome should surgical intervention be necessary. Many cases do not require surgical intervention but if they do we provide the latest in arthroscopic care of the shoulder as well as shoulder joint replacement procedures.
One of the benefits of being part of the large practice is the access to specialized care beyond our scope of services in Vincennes. Specialists are Tri-State Orthopaedics in Evansville are available to provide consultation and direct care for selected patients.
