A #GivingTuesday to advance justice for all - and say THANKS
Today is "Giving Tuesday," a day when we encourage each other to consider donating to charitable organizations as part of our holiday giving. If you would like to make the work of criminal justice reform part of your Giving Tuesday, please consider donating to EMO's Criminal Justice Ministries (CoSA). You can donate online now by giving here.

This is also a day for US to take the opportunity to thank YOU for your support all year long. As we look back on a busy year, full of new challenges and new energy to face them, we at EMO are incredibly grateful to the many, many people who are stepping up to the work ahead, and reaching out a hand of love across the barriers that would divide us.

Thank you!
Legislative Update
Oregon's long(er) legislative session starts this winter. EMO is gearing up now for its advocacy campaigns, addressing needs across our communities. To stay informed about EMO's advocacy efforts on ending violence and mass incarceration, let us know you want to get involved. We need voices across the state - people willing to write letters to the editor, contact their legislators, and connect with others in their community.

And mark your calendar for March 4, 2019, for Interfaith Advocacy Day in Salem - the premier event for religious communities to lobby their state representatives and senators for the common good. Addressing hate crimes, adopting a moral budget, and securing support for the vulnerable are some of the priorities we will be addressing. Stay tuned for registration and agenda details.
Hearing the Cries - in your community
In 2019, Hearing the Cries for Justice is coming to a region near you - with your help! We will visit regions outside the Portland metro area for a day of networking and learning, focused on stories and skills for effective criminal justice ministries. The program will include training in legislative advocacy and reentry mentorship, with a focus on the stories and needs of people in your area.

We are recruiting local congregations to host the event and provide logistical organizing. We are currently exploring visits to Eugene, Grants Pass, and Ontario. If you would like to get involved in one of these areas, or host somewhere else, let us know! Write to us at cosa@emoregon.org .

And stay tuned for our visit to your corner of the state, when Hearing the Cries for Justice goes on the road!
May the season ahead be full of joy and light!

Whatever days you mark as holy and whatever ways you honor the divine in these coming weeks of sacred darkness, may you and your loved ones find moments of joy. It can be a busy season; may you find chances to feel peace and hope within the rush. Thank you for all you do!
