According to Mathew, Easter started with an earthquake! What's up with that? ~ Pastor Alex

The Great 50 Days: “Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again!” Every time we celebrate Holy Communion, we remind ourselves of this good news. From now until May 24th we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. In the church Easter is actually 50 days long! Jesus rose on Easter Sunday, but he appeared to his disciples for 40 days and then ascended into heaven. Then ten days later he sent the Holy Spirit to anoint the disciples at Pentecost. Make time to celebrate the new life that we have through the resurrection of Jesus, not just today, but every day!

The Color White during the season of Easter represents holiness and the glory of the resurrection.

The Pascal Candle is the large candle beside the baptismal font. Sometimes the Pascal Candle is also called the Easter Candle or the Christ Candle. It is lit during the 50 days of the Easter season. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples for 40 days, and then after his ascension the disciples waited 10 more days until the Holy Spirit came upon them at Pentecost. The flame of the Pascal Candle represents the living presence of the Risen Christ with his disciples between his resurrection and his ascension. It is also a reminder of the living presence of the Risen Christ with us.

Saint Mark will be participating in a Great Day of Service for Easter. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 am - 8:30 am. A short blessing and devotion will occur at 8:30 am, and then we will disperse to our locations. You should be finished by lunchtime, unless you are serving lunch at Our Daily Bread or meals for Collins Children's Home. (You may choose not to attend the morning gathering if you are working in the afternoon. However, we would like to have everyone participate in the fellowship.) We hope you will join our team of disciples as we "do good work"! Registrations are due to the church office or as a response to the online form by Easter Sunday, April 5.

Dear Saint Mark Disciples,

Here is the seventh week of the 2026 Lenten Devotionals written by your fellow Saint Mark Disciples. Thank you to all those who contributed your inspirational thoughts.

May you be blessed as you read these daily devotionals.

Melissa Stevenson

THANK YOU, MELISSA!

The Faith Formation Committee would like to thank Melissa Stevenson for collecting, editing, and formatting the Lenten devotionals for the congregation’s spiritual journey throughout the season of Lent. Her time and effort are

much appreciated.

On the night our Lord was betrayed, he instituted the Sacrament of Holy Communion. At 7 pm on Friday, April 3rd we will remember and celebrate the actions of Christ at the Last Supper including Holy Communion. Then we will commemorate Christ's death on the cross with scripture and music. The service will end with a stripping of the altar. Come and bring a friend to this moving service!

You are encouraged to bring flowers and greenery to cover the living cross on the front lawn of the church and in the Saint Mark Center as you come to worship Easter Sunday. The Worship Team will assist you as you place flowers.

Next Sunday we will have a Sunrise service at 7:00 am on Easter, April 5th on the lawn in front of the sanctuary. You are invited to bring a chair, but if you can’t we will have some chairs available. In case of rain, we will meet in the Narthex and on the front porch. It was at sunrise that Jesus rose from the dead so come and join us for this moving worship experience! There will be a breakfast in the Commons Room after the service. Breakfast casseroles, sausage biscuits and coffee will be provided. You are invited to bring fruit and pastries to share. Come and bring a friend to celebrate new life and to break bread!

Come learn more about this exciting new initiative that impacts the future of Saint Mark! Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 8 to Julie Spoelstra.

Speaking of Intergenerational initiatives, the Berries Committee and Family Ministries is combining efforts to bring together disciples of all ages for an evening of fun in downtown Seneca. Join us for Jazz on the Alley on Thursday, April 16 at 7pm. It's fun, and it's free! We will meet in front of Mayberry's Restaurant at 6:30. We recommend you bring your own chair. The featured musician that evening is Nathan Angelo. You can contact Karen Suarez or Julie Spoelstra with questions.
