SUNDAYS AFTER PENTECOST: This Sunday is the second Sunday in the season of the church year called “Sundays after Pentecost.” This is the longest season of the church year. This year it lasts 26 Sundays – half of the year! It extends from Trinity Sunday, last week, to Christ the King Sunday, November 22nd, the last Sunday before Advent. The primary colors for this season are red to represent the Holy Spirit in the early part of the season, and green which represents Christian growth, but other colors like white can be used. During this season seek to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in your worship.

We wish a very Happy Birthday to Family Ministries Director Julie Spoelstra on Tuesday, June 9th. If you'd like to email her, CLICK HERE.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE A MEAL!

Saint Mark is providing a meal to the team at Piedmont Salkehatchie on Thursday, June 18. The Service & Mission Team, Caring Team, and Family Ministries have teamed up to lead this effort. Nine people from Saint Mark are attending Salkehatchie this year. We will be serving dinner to about 50 people who are working to repair homes of those in need. We need a few people to help prepare food and a few others to help serve and clean up on site at Wren High School. If you are available to help with this please reach out to Alicia Spivey.

CONGREGATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Saint Mark’s apportionments empower us to support the worldwide ministry of the church. Apportionments are the funds that we give for the ministry of the larger United Methodist Church and they would make up about 8% of our annual budget, if we included them all. Today we are highlighting the apportionment for Congregational Development.

Congregational Development assists in the purchase of land for new church sites, helps newly organized churches, and assists in revitalizing programs for existing churches. This is the “church planting” fund. Prior to the creation of this fund, there was no statewide effort to intentionally plant churches or to provide funds for developing churches. A portion of the Congregational Development donations stay in the district they originated from to help churches in that district who need it.

“Our-portion-ment” for Congregational Development is $5,495 this year. Only half of that has been included in the budget for 2026. Please give faithfully so that Saint Mark can hopefully support these apportionments in full.

Rev. Alex and Rev. Dr. Bob Stillwell will be at Annual Conference in Greenville this week (June 7-10) along with

our Lay Members of Annual Conference. Pray for a successful conference.

We will provide water and iced tea. We will also play Trivia! Please RSVP to Diana Palmer by Saturday, June 6th.

THE CHILDREN

OF OUR CDC NEED YOU!!!

Starting in 2026, the Steering Committee of our Saint Mark Child Development Center created a new organization that we are hoping many of you will want to join.

The FRIENDS of the CDC was created to provide additional funds to our Child Development Center -- enrichment opportunities that tuition will never be able to cover.

Childcare is in crisis in our country and our community. Parents are paying between $180 and $200 per week for their child or children to attend our CDC, and though that is a large monthly expense, it does not cover the actual cost of providing the care.

The dollars we are able to raise through the FRIENDS organization will help provide additional learning opportunities and enrichment experiences that we cannot provide without private support.

Please click here to review our new brochure to see why we need your help and how your membership dues will be put to use. We will also provide you with periodic newsletters and invitations to interact with our children and teachers.

Your help is important and your gift is tax-deductible. We currently have 78 children in our CDC and 28 in our After School Program. I can assure you these precious little ones will benefit from your support and will blossom while in our care.

If you have questions, please reach out to me at

864 247-0189 or debbiedubose10@gmail.com.

Many thanks for your consideration,
