Hello Heidi,


During this season of family get togethers & gift giving, we thought it would be a good time to look into an eastern health system, called the Chakra system. Specifically, let's look at the Heart chakra.


If we can center ourselves in the heart, even during the hustle and bustle of the season, we can fully take in a heartfelt exchange with a loved one. These type of heart connections are healing to the giver and the receiver and with all that is happening in the world, we all could use some heart healing.


The chakra system is a profound representation of the universe. Each of the seven levels represents such major areas of human life that they could fill volumes all by themselves. The chakra system originated in India, more than four thousand years ago. The word Chakra literally translates as "wheel" and the system describes 7 "wheels of energy" moving up the body, each one representing energies we must embody with freedom in order to live fully.


The lower chakras, for example, which are physically closer to the earth, are related to the more practical matters of our lives-survival, sex, power. The upper chakras represent our connection to love, creativity, intuition and spirit.


According to yogic philosophy, the heart chakra is the gate keeper to the higher chakras. So as we train ourselves to live in the heart, through self love, connection and love for others, we create action fueled with higher energy verses action fueled by survival, sex and/or power.


Here is a list of Heart Chakra healing practices available to you:

  6. Learning to love yourself - only than can you love others


The work of the heart is constant and daily because sadly, this chakra is easily damaged, diminished, or wounded. But if more of us commit to heart healing and employ love as the force that runs our lives, all will be better for it. Yes, many people are obsessed with power - but remember, we are all driven by the need for love. The basic right of the heart chakra, to love and be loved, is simple, profound, direct.

Heart Chakra Affirmations

this holiday season:



  • I am worthy of love
  • I am loving to myself and others
  • There is infinite supply of love
  • I accept love from others
  • My heart is open and vulnerable
  • I receive & give love effortlessly

How to use an Affirmation:

First, pick an affirmation that you have not yet fully embodied. For example, if you say the affirmation "I accept love from others" and you feel resistance to that statement in your body, this is a good indication that this is a great affirmation for your heart healing. Also, with the same example, if you observe yourself having difficulty receiving a compliment or a gift, this is also a good indicator that your heart is not open to "accept love from others", so again this would be a great affirmation for you.


We want to work with the affirmation that feels untrue to us and work daily to make the affirmation true for us. So I like to say that the affirmative statement, "I accept love from others" is at the end of a long tunnel and you are standing at the beginning of that same tunnel. As you say the affirmation, you slowly work through the hurts and/or limiting beliefs in your life experience that have held you back from this statement being true. I often work with the same affirmation for many weeks or months, until I can say that particular affirmation with full truth, trust and peace in my body/mind/emotions.


Here is a quick guide to working with your chosen affirmation this holiday season.


Practice affirming yourself every day

  1. Start with 3 to 5 minutes at least twice a day. Try saying affirmations upon waking up and getting into bed, for example.
  2. Repeat each affirmation about 10 times.
  3. Ask a trusted therapist or NET practitioner to help.
  4. Make your routine consistent.
  5. Be patient.


Remember, we are here to help. If working with your affirmation brings up emotional or physical pain, the good news is that deep healing is available, but you don't have to heal alone.
