A & L Accessories

 I simply love my hometown. My husband Joey and I were both born and raised here so that makes it even more special to us to own a small business on Main Street. We specifically enjoy offering local made products in the store as much as possible. I get a lot of help from my friends and family because there is a lot of behind-the-scenes action to make even a very small business like us possible.

 A&L Accessories is a purse, jewelry, and accessories boutique that constantly seeks to find new items and vendors for the store's loyal customers. The accessories shop is located at 324 West Main Street across from the Court House. A & L offers a variety of name products, "Ginger Snap" jewelry, "Sloane Ranger" bags, and "Oka B" sandals and Ballet flats. The shop also features locally made and themed accessories, like "LeMonds Jewelry," "Joe's Bars and Suds," Lisa Kelley Elliott's "Etta's Body Butter and Scrubs," and "Reload Designs" jewelry that is made from recycled bullet casings.
After working as a sales manager and being on the road for 18 years, Ann Clay decided to settle down and to open her own storefront, even though she
 was warned by her friends and colleagues it would be too hard. With the aid of her family, Ann Clay first opened her shop in 2010. The shop was named for Ann Clay and her daughter Loren. At her current location she expanded her shop just about a year ago. This allowed her to almost double the size, in order to offer more of the fun gifts and accessories her customers have come to expect. She was then able to also offer a few new surprises, like the custom-made party lights her husband Joey makes to order and more items from local vendors.
 Growing up in Danville, Ann Clay remembers the days when everybody shopped downtown. "It was a special family event just to go shopping in Danville for the day," she recalls. She hopes that by being located on Main Street, she can contribute to transforming downtown Danville back into an active and lively place.
