Carol's Bridal and Gift Boutique
by Wesley Wei, our BCHS volunteer
We all feel like we're a family, and it's been very important that we've been able to run this business together. We're the hometown folks, and there's no such thing as impersonal business here.
~ Carol and David Senn, Owners of Carol's Bridal and Gift Boutique
Carol's Bridal and Gift Boutique is the only formal ware and gift shop business in downtown Danville. As a family-run business, they offer personal, one-on-one service for choosing prom and wedding dresses and sizing tuxedos that can't be found in large-scale bridal shops or department stores. They also register wedding parties and offer a range of gifts for other special occasions.
Carol Senn originally started her bridal business in 1983. Prior t

about retail working
with Joe Frankel. When she decided to open her own retail shop, she needed the help and guidance of Gene Worthington, the president at Bank of Danville, who loaned her money at a time when single women were not typically offered business loans. Carol has always had her business on Main Street, but she moved four times before she bought and settled into her current location at 309 West Main Street. First with the help of her mother, Babe Johnson, and in more recent years her husband, David Senn, the business has become the store in Danville for wedding and prom dresses and tuxedos.
Carol and David describe their store as a "mom and pop" operation, and they have gotten to know most of the customers that walk through the shop's doors on a first name basis. Carol's has now been in operation for over thirty years, and over that time they have created a homey atmosphere in their shop. They continue to welcome and help customers when it comes to picking the right apparel for their special moment.
