Coming together at Heartland
Thanks to your loving gifts, a Barn Time participant shares some one-on-one time with Frances the sheep, who is loving the extra attention and back scratches.

Focus on: Animal Hearts
A weekly group for children and families affected by trauma

Animal Hearts is Heartland Farm Sanctuary's newest program, and is off to a great start this Fall! Tailored for families who have experienced trauma or loss, Animal Hearts is led by licensed therapists and shelter staff. Families have an opportunity to care for our farm animal friends, and themselves, in a supportive, caring, natural environment.

Keeping it Cozy!

Please help keep your Heartland animals warm this winter with your special donation to help us winterize the barn.
  • Just $5 will buy a bale of bedding straw to make a cozy bed.
  • Just $10 will build a new insulated window to keep out the cold and drafts.
Please make a donation now for a bale of bedding straw or a new window. If everyone pitches in with just $5 or $10 we can finish our winterizing needs by mid-November -- before the snow and cold arrives!

Volunteer with us!

Join our Sunday maintenance shift and help with simple repairs, barn cleaning, and winterization projects! We also have a high need for skilled adult workers to work directly with our project coordinator on larger building projects.

Learn more about this and all Heartland volunteer opportunities and please join us this Sunday!

Over 400 Dedicated Donors Attend Our OPEN BARN!

Love was in the air at our first OPEN BARN!  A record-breaking, enthusiastic crowd of over 400 people came to celebrate Heartland's purchase of the farm.  Visitors cuddled with critters, enjoyed a beer, dined on delicious food, and learned about the exciting new barn renovations coming soon!  Our heartfelt thanks to our OPEN BARN sponsors who made this special event a huge success. Thank you Ale Asylum, American Printing Company, Foley & Lardner LLP, Full Compass Systems, Electronic Theatre Controls, and Willy St. Co-op for your generous donations and support.

 Animal Spotlight: Opal the Goat

Opal came to us in May of 2013 along with Michael, her goat friend. They both came  from an incredibly difficult situation that left them both very ill and malnourished.
