Dear Tracy,
The illustrious Katherine Hepburn once said, “Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything.”
What a thought, right? Our world likes to associate love with a bouquet of roses or a sentimental song. At it’s most powerful though, love is a verb.
We see your commitment to act in love in countless ways:
-the endless compassion volunteers share through their time and talents
-the hope donors give in creating opportunity for families
-the investments grantors make to grow a better, more equitable community
-the passion our staff brings to their work
The most amazing things happen at Saranam when families feel loved: adults’ confidence skyrockets, kids make plans for their futures, and families start taking care of one another in the same way they were cared for.
In fact, they share that care with the community, like our kids did last year when they wrote cards to patients undergoing chemotherapy (see picture above). When love is an action, not just a platitude, change happens.
For the love you give and change it makes, thank you.
